Captain Ivan Perrin

Fly fishing the marsh, and teaching it.

Ivan is Louisiana-raised and 100% Cajun; his grandfather shrimped in summer and trapped the marsh in winter. After an accounting degree at LSU he moved to Snowmass Village, Colorado, in 1989, learned to fly fish, and spent decades guiding on Colorado water, including floats for big trout on the lower Colorado River.

In the winter of 2024–25 he came home to the coast to learn the water around Port Fourchon and Grand Isle, and he now guides for DTB from a Ranger Phantom 168, sight casting to redfish in the marsh. With close to 35 years of teaching people to cast, catch and respect the sport, he also organizes the DTB Salt Water Fly Fishing School each December.
