Ivan Perrin

Born and raised in Louisiana, Ivan Perrin is 100% Cajun. His roots run deep in the bayous—his grandfather spent summers captaining a shrimp boat and winters trapping in the marsh. Ivan grew up fishing everything from Bass, Crappie, and Brim to Speckled Trout, Sand Trout, Redfish, Snapper, Grouper, Croaker, Drum, and Mahi Mahi, all with conventional tackle.

After earning a degree in Accounting from LSU, Ivan moved to Snowmass Village in 1989. There, he discovered fly fishing in Shale Bluff Canyon after long days behind a desk with the Aspen Skiing Company. Along with two fellow Louisianians, he became—and still remains—a fly fishing guide.

Ivan launched his guiding career wade fishing around Aspen with Oxbow Outfitting. He later secured a contract with the Aspen Skiing Company to operate under the name Snowmass Anglers, where he trained numerous guides who still lead trips to this day.

By the late 1990s, Ivan transitioned into float fishing, primarily chasing trophy-sized trout on the lower Colorado River. Over the years, he’s helped many clients land their personal bests.

In the winter of 2024–2025, Ivan dedicated himself to learning the inshore waters of Port Fourchon and Grand Isle. Now equipped with a Ranger Phantom 168 and a new Suzuki outboard, his Down the Bayou guide service will officially launch in Fall 2025.

Each December, Ivan will host the DTB Saltwater Fly Fishing School—a full experience including casting competitions, classroom instruction, and one or two days on the water.

In addition to guiding, Ivan runs ILP Services, LLC, offering comprehensive bookkeeping, payroll, budgeting, financial reporting, and general business consulting.

With nearly 35 years of experience teaching people how to cast, catch, and respect the sport of fly fishing, Ivan remains passionate and grateful for every day on the water.

“I feel truly blessed each day I’m on the water—whether personally or professionally. Have fun every day.”
